Merrie England sing-along goes Irish

CHEERS: Maurice Champeau of Guinness and DJ Johnny Vee prepare for St Patrick's Night

Andy Jennings, venue manager, and his trusty team at The Merrie are planning not just a thousand welcomes to all who celebrate with them on Saturday night but also a thousand Irish songs in a spectacular Irish Craic Karaoke Party.
DJ Johnny Vee has collated a mammoth selection of the best in Irish jigs, reels, traditional ballads and foot tapping singalongs and will be hosting the biggest Irish karaoke session in the resort.
Joining him on stage with live entertainment is the popular music duo McItchy & O'Scratchy, who will be providing a rocking and rousing rendition of traditional Irish and Celtic music to lift the hearts and spirits.
Merrie England resident DJ Johnny Vee is looking forward to hosting the St

Patrick's Day Party: "The Irish music scene has never been so alive and thriving and whether you prefer mesmerising Celtic ballads sung in pure Gaelic or the foot tapping beats of traditional Irish dance music we will be covering the whole spectrum of Ireland's finest music from B-Witched, The Corrs, Van Morrison, U2, Sinead O'Connor, Clannad, Ronan Keaton, The Clancy Brothers, Christy Moore, Boyzone, The Cranberries, The Pogues and we may even throw in a few classic Johnny Logan tunes!
"The venue will all be themed in traditional Irish decor and we will be giving a free pint of Guinness or an Irish cocktail to all customers who arrive on Saturday Night – with a great big warm Merrie England welcome."
The Merrie England is open from noon to 5pm with Joey Blower hosting his comedy show in the afternoon followed from 7pm until late with the Merrie England Irish Craic Karaoke Party Spectacular.

The Easter season gets into full swing at North Pier's Merrie England Bar as Joey Blower hosts a weekend of comedy, live music and first class entertainment.
Joey's outrageous comedy sessions have evolved into one of the resort's biggest must-see shows as its reputation and popularity grows year on year with customers returning from all over the country.
He will be kick starting the merriment with his cult comedy show from Friday evening right through to Saturday afternoon and evening and again on Sunday afternoon.
On Saturday night there will also be a very special live performance from the UK comedy icon Bernard Manning.
From 8pm Bernard will be performing on stage for an evening of unpredictable gags, humour and one-liners. The bad man of British comedy is hailed as a national treasure in some quarters and

continues to entertain audiences with his crude, shrewd and always outrageous observations.
Joey is looking forward to another record breaking weekend of quality live entertainment:
"This year's Easter Weekend is going to be fantastic," he said. "We have a superb mix of great live music with Itchy and Scratchy, DJ Johnny Vee and topped with first class comedy from Bernard Manning, who has been voted one of the world's best comedians in a recent poll, so there should be plenty of laughs all night long.
"He continues to raise smiles and eyebrows at the same time, so it's better to arrive early to join the party with Britain's most outrageous star for an unforgettable slice of comedy.
"We wanted to start the year with something special and it's really a great big thank you to all our customers who return year after year and support the Merrie England, bringing back their family and friends."
